Bitong-Mes

PUMA Bitong-Mes, the model number is 668. This knife was designed to cut dried meat "Jerky" in the bush camps while on safari. PUMA made this model for the South African market. The blade has serrations and the top of the blade is notched for finger control. This model was made in the late 1970's and early 80's.

PUMA 668 Biltong-Mes was made in Solingen, Germany in 1977. The handle is made from jacaranda wood and the liners are brass. This knife comes is the original green and yellow plastic box, guarantee card with # 83774, original sharpening instructions, knife has correct label on the end of the box that reads, "PUMA 668 BILTONG-MES" .

The Biltong is for African dry meat of old tradition. To carve it you need an extra sharp hard knife. The serrated part of the cutting edge is helpful This is a rare find for the Puma collector. The blade is etched: 668 PUMA BILTONG-MES ~ HANDMADE ~ NEW STAINLESS SUPER KEEN CUTTING STEEL 668 Biltong-Mes~ Blade 2 3/4" ~ Handle 3 1/2" ~ Overall Open 6 5/8" ~ Closed 3 1/2".
