Commemorative Knife 1769

PUMA Commemorative Knife 1769, the model number is CK-1769. The handles are genuine stag. The PUMA CK-1769 Commemorative is a lockback folding knife.  This knife was made in 1973. The knife is over 40 years old. This knife also has the protective cardboard sleeve. It had not been opened. There is a intricate polished brass inlay on the top of the cedar wood display box. 

The blade is German stainless steel and is silver filled. The handles are genuine stag with three brass rivets and a lanyard hole. PUMA made this knife to commemorate the beginning of PUMA Werks in 1769. PUMA made 1769 of this model and each one is individual serial numbered.

This knife measures 8 1/2" overall with a 3 5/8" blade. The knife is 5" long when closed. The Puma Model CK-1769 Commemorative were PUMA's first commemorative knives made in 1973. This knife has gorgeous stag handles. The PUMA Commemorative was in the PUMA catalog in 1978.

The blade is beautifully etched and 24 karat gold filled German stainless steel blade. It also has ANNO 1769 on the side. The blade has beautiful file work on the back spring and blade. The knife came in a special cedar wood, felt lined presentation box. The top of the case features pretty gold leaf's. The knife came with a certificate of authenticity. There were only 1769 of these commemorative knives made.

The knife includes the "Puma Proof Mark" on the blade: a small dot or ping on the blade was made with a diamond pointed needle, part of the Rockwell blade quality testing. 

It is truly a rare and stunning PUMA knife that was made to the the highest quality in Solingen, Germany. The brass jaws are deeply engraved with the inscriptions "me fecit Solingen" and "1769 me fecit Solingen" is an old and undisputed spell through the industrial history of Solingen and means "I was made in Solingen"
