Fahrtenmesser

PUMA Fahrtenmesser, the model number is 6317. It was hand made before 1964 as it does not have a guarantee control number.

This is a Swedish / Scandinavian model. It is also referred to as a traveling knife. The handle is made from stag. This knife is a rare German made PUMA fixed blade knife and leather sheath.  The stag handle is inlaid with the .800 silver for initials.  The leather sheath is stamped "Made in Germany".

PUMA “Fahrtenmesser” model 6317 hunting knife. The knife is 9 1/2” long and the blade is 5 1/2” long. The handle also has a brass lined thong hole. The blade is etched: Original PUMA Fahrtenmesser, Best No. 6317 Germany, DBGM and Handarbeit Echter Rostfreier Pumaster-Stahl. The knife has the original leather sheath marked PUMA on front and Made in Germany on back.
