Nimrod - Big Game Catcher

PUMA Nimrod, the model number is 11 3595. The handle is made from genuine stag horn. The guarantee control number is 16281. This indicates the knife was hand made in Solingen, Germany in the 1st half of 1982. PUMA made the Nimrod for eight years in low numbers: The Nimrod was discontinued in 1989. The Nimrod is a rare model to find and is prized by knife collectors.

The handle is genuine stag with three brass rivets. The handle on the Nimrod also have a polished brass finger guard and pommel.  The blade was made from German high carbon steel. The Nimrod knife measures 12 1/2" overall with a 7 3/4" blade. 

The blade is etched with: 11 3595 HANDABREIT - PUMA HOCHWILDFANGER NIMROD - NACH SCHWEISSHUNDFUHRER FISSELER - GERMANY HIGH CARBON STEEL.

The Nimrod bearing the number 3599 was been produced by PUMA, in addition to the Waidblatt, Rüdemann and the Hirschfanger. The Nimrod is one of the most powerful and largest knives made by PUMA. It was created in the 50's with the help of Walter Frevert.

This knife includes the "PUMA Proof Mark" on the blade: a small dot or ping on the blade was made with a diamond pointed needle. This is part of the Rockwell blade quality testing. 

This knife came in the vintage style 1970's factory wood presentation box with the PUMA factory information sheet and the gold guarantee warranty tag. This Puma knife was hand made in Solingen Germany at Puma Werks. PUMA makes one of the highest quality knives made. 

The Nimrod is one of the four hunting sidearms hand made by PUMA. The Nimrod was the fourth and final knife of the big blade designs. The Waidblatt, Hirshfänager, Rüdemann, and Nimrod are the PUMA Hunting Side Arms. They are considered to be some of the best models PUMA has ever made.
