The handle is genuine stag with three brass rivets. The handle on the Waidblatt also have a brass lined lanyard hole. The Waidblatt blade is made from German high carbon steel. The blade is gold etched with a gorgeous forest scene with animals. The Waidblatt knife measures 13" overall with a 8 1/2" blade. This knife also comes with a genuine dark green Puma leather sheath.

The Waidblatt bearing the number 3588 has been produced by PUMA for decades and, in addition to the Nimrod, Rüdemann and the Hirschfänger. The Waidblatt is one of the most powerful and largest knives made by Puma. It was created in the 50's with the help of Walter Frevert. These four models make up the PUMA Hunting Side Arms.

This knife comes in the vintage style 1970's factory wood presentation box with the PUMA factory paper. This PUMA knife was hand made in Solingen, Germany at PUMA Werks. 

This knife includes the "PUMA Proof Mark" on the blade: a small dot or ping on the blade was made with a diamond pointed needle. This is part of the Rockwell blade quality testing. 

PUMA also made a Luxury Waidblatt model with genuine hand carved ivory handles and a gold etched blade. The guarantee control number is 15181. This indicates the knife was hand made in Solingen, Germany in the 1st half of 1981. The sheath was made from pig skin and the knife came in a large wood presentation box.
